The UK Cardiff FRCR Course 2026

Confirmed dates of course:

  • Pre-recorded lectures (Cardiff): 01 August until FRCR2b exam
  • Live virtual week: 28 September – 01 October
  • Face-to-face weekend in Cardiff: 03 – 04 October

The 2026 course will have 3 components.

  1. Pre-recorded lectures

A library of over 30 pre-recorded video lectures covering essential tumour sites for the FRCR exam. These provide the didactic part of the course, with up-to-date evidence, rationale, and management for each tumour site. The pre-recorded lectures are released in advance of the other course components. They support preparation for both FRCR2a and FRCR2b exams.

The lectures are designed to supplement, and not replace background reading and knowledge of published guidelines and literature.

2. Live Virtual Course

Held via ZOOM, this is a 4-day course of live, interactive case-based sessions, building on the background knowledge from the pre-recorded lectures.

Delegates are expected to actively participate in this safe space, whether or not their exam is imminent.

The sessions will cover subsite-specific problems and decision-making, including:

  • viva skills
  • palliative radiotherapy
  • IGRT and 3D planning

3. Face-to-face Weekend, Cardiff

An intensive and highly interactive 2 day course of featuring:

Small group tumour site specific workshops, with a focus on exam technique, answering under time pressure and RT outlining.

Communication skills

Mock exams, with 1 to 1 examiners and feedback

Course enrolment to suit your needs

We recognise that our delegates are at a variety of stages in terms of exam preparation, and so the whole course may not suit everyone.

We therefore offer the course in 3 modular packages:

a) Pre-recorded lectures (fees listed below)

b) Pre-recorded lectures plus Live Virtual Course (fees listed below)

c)Pre-recorded lectures plus Live Virtual Course plus F2F Weekend Course (fees listed below)

Please note that in order to attend the live virtual course, you must have watched the pre-recorded lectures. This material will NOT be repeated during the live sessions. Therefore, it is not possible to buy theses modules separately. Similarly, to attend the face to face weekend, you must have both watched the pre-recorded lectures, and attended the live virtual course, as the face to face weekend builds on previously covered material.

Our expectations of delegates

You will have reasonable general oncological experience and knowledge as expected of a trainee who has passed FRCR I, and who is preparing for the FRCR II exam. You will have an understanding of the clinical management of the major tumour subsites, at least. You may lack confidence in some areas.

Watching the pre-recorded lectures is a pre-requisite to attending the Live Virtual Course Week and the Face-to-Face Course Weekend. You cannot attend the live aspects of the course without purchasing these lectures, as the live course will assume a good level of background knowledge.

Full requirements

Upon receipt of payment, you will receive a password to enable you to stream the lectures from the password protected area of our website. Lectures are not available to download, and can be streamed only.

You will need access to a PC/laptop and speakers to watch the material.
